<p>10.   Master using the local base strategy for Google Ad words, pay as low per click as possible while still getting as many clicks from targeted traffics as possible</p>

<p>14.   Hire a virtual Assitant &#8211; this is so reasonable in price it will shock you.</p>
<p>15.   You must have a central database system (this is the center of your business) choose wisley. Find one that will do everything  you want it too. I choose one that has a contact managment feature, Email follow up cabability, billing and ability to create webforms for opt ins.</p>
<p>Work on these areas one by one for 2 hours a day and you will have the best year ever! No matter HOW your school is doing today, you CAN completely hit a home run if you focus on these areas.</p>

<p><strong> </strong></p>
<p>What do people typically call the present status of the economy? A recession?  A downturn?  Whatever you call it, the rate of income growth across US businesses has slowed to a crawl, and that is scaring the pants off of a lot of people. Your own business may not be affected in any way, but the fact is that many people are worried about their future… very worried.</p>
<p>Bad news?  Obviously, in some ways, it really is! Those worried folks only spend less money these days and don’t buy anymore on impulse, making each and every transaction, making each sale a little bit harder.</p>
<p>But for those of us with the right approach, there’s hope. A sure hope and opportunity. You will ask, <em>“Why?”</em> The fact remains to be simple and true and that is while everyone else is capitalizing with less vigor and determination, you can do the exact opposite. As what Paul Lemberg puts it that while timid business owners are pulling in their horns and “conserving cash” you can outmarket them. As the unemployment rate creeps up, you can acquire their staff more easily.  And good businesses are for sale and can be bought on the cheap. How about that?</p>
<p>Here are a few martial arts business tips and tactics that will definitely help when things get rough.  These tips apply whenever your School needs a boost.  You can think of them as turnaround tactics.</p>
<p><strong>1. Market Harder</strong></p>
<p><span style="font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: small;">Make sure to advertise your business harder!  Hey – either they will enroll in your school, or not.  And if they don’t, there are plenty of other clients and prospects, so who cares. But when students and prospects are feeling the pinch they become circumspect about how they spend their money, and it takes more persuasion to get them to enroll.  Research shows that it takes as many as seven – even ten – “touches” to get someone to take action.  And sales data shows that most people stop closing after the first try, and even professional folks usually quit after the third time.   Advertise harder.  Ask more often.  Use stronger arguments. Go back to your people repeatedly and make them see the need!</span></span></p>
<p><strong>2. Narrow Your Focus and Broaden Your Lines</strong></p>
<p><span style="font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: small;">This may seem like a paradox – narrow and broaden at the same time.  It isn’t.  You’ve got to free yourself from all distractions.  <strong>Prune outlying ventures and offshoots that aren’t really part of your core business</strong>.  Narrow your focus and spend all your energy on strengthening the core materials and services that contribute most to your income.  Next, make it easier for your good students/clients to spend more money with you.  Figure out what related promo or services they want and need and make the strategy to offer it to them.</span></span></p>
<p><strong>3. Spend More Money On Marketing</strong></p>
<p><span style="font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: small;">Most business owners “budget” for marketing, which only makes sense if you think of it as a cost.  Instead, if you see marketing as a income generator, you should be willing to be spend some defined fraction of that income to acquire yet more income!  That fraction should be a function of your average customers lifetime value.  If you follow tip 2 above, you will quickly increase your average lifetime value, and therefore be willing and able to spend more.  Test first. Make sure your programs work before you roll out big.  One more thing; in tough times, you may also want to think about increasing that fraction itself.  If you normally consider spending 10% of lifetime value to acquire a student, you may want to increase it to 12% or 15%.</span></span></p>
<p><strong>4. Establish Your Referral Systems</strong></p>
<p><span style="font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: small;">Teach your Martial Arts Buisness to market itself. How do you do that? Well, it start&#8217;s with being <strong>REMARKABLE</strong>! What is your Buisness Story? This is a great place to start. Create your School&#8217;s story, why your passionate about teaching martial arts and how it came to be. Create a great looking sheet to give to prospects, Have a mural painted in your school of the story. This will train your students to TELL your buisness story to others. Also, use social media (video works best) to feature students. You will find when you put up a &#8220;student of the week&#8221; video on your blog or fan page that your students will be sending them to your page to check it out. Buddy Days, Contests and all other referral tactics only CONSITENTLY produce results when you have made every part of your martial arts business UNIQUE! Think of the last time you had a GREAT experience dining, you wanted to TELL everyone you know to go there. <p><strong>5. Clarify Your Value Proposition </strong></p>
<p><span style="font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: small;">Remember: even if there really is a ‘recession,’ people are always going to spend money.  Perhaps not as easily or as much, but we all still have needs and wants, and we are going to try to satisfy those.  That means that while people aren’t rushing to pull out their wallets for every offer that comes along, they will still spend on things perceived as valuable.  What does that mean?  Before you may have gotten away with a lot of fast talk.  Now you have to prove it to them.  Spell it out; show them exactly how they will benefit – in financial terms like how martial arts can prevent them from hospitalization bills and other aspects of their lives.  Use case studies, testimonials, examples, demonstrations.</span></span></p>

do to raise the bar in our professional and personal lives. So many of these things are easy to do and can be accomplished in less than 10 seconds. They just require an intentional effort.</p>
<p>What is CRITICAL to understand is that your ultimate success, fulfillment and happiness will come from doing the little things that matter.</p>
<p>As entrepreneur and best selling author Harvey Mackay said, “Little things don’t mean a lot. They mean everything.”</p>
<p>Here is a short list of 36 things you can do in less than 10 seconds that will make you a better person, enhance your self-image and improve the quality of your life.</p>
<p><span style="font-size: medium;"><strong>1.</strong></span> Make it a point to say the words ”I love you” to the people in your home every single day.</p>

Those 25 and over account for 84 percent of Twitter users, and the fastest growing demographic for Facebook is people over 35. More than 5 billion pieces of content, such as web links, news stories, and photos, are shared on Facebook every week. Use market research to find out which social media platforms your customers frequent, and plan your activity on those sites.</p>
<p>Social media is a global phenomenon. About 70 percent of Facebook’s more than 400 million active users are outside the U.S.</p>
<h2>Step 2: Create a policy</h2>
<p>Be aware that employees may have personal blogs, Facebook pages, Twitter feeds, and other social media connections. Create a comprehensive social media policy to protect both individuals and the company as a whole. Encourage truthful, respectful posts that also protect confidential information, and take online security risks seriously.</p>

<p>In a Wall Street Journal editorial a month ago titled &#8220;Postgame Evaluation of Super Bowl Advertisements&#8221;, two marketing lessons &#8211; both worthy of our discussion &#8211; were highlighted.</p>
<p>They reaffirm something we&#8217;ve been teaching school owners for many years.</p>
<p>&#8220;In the annual discussions as to which Super Bowl ads are &#8216;liked&#8217; best, the pundits all miss the point,&#8221; author Jeff Nelems, starts the editorial.</p>
<p>&#8220;The purpose of advertising is not, or should not be, to create an ad that consumers like. Rather the purpose of advertising should be, in the final analysis, to sell&#8230;&#8221;</p>
<p>And right there is your first lesson: marketing &#8211; specifically in your case, martial arts marketing &#8211; is not about creating or using advertisements that you, your staff, your spouse, or your students &#8220;like&#8221;. Frankly, likes and dislikes in marketing are irrelevant. As are opinions.</p>
<p>The sole objective of all of your martial arts marketing is to drive new students into your school. And that&#8217;s the only thing that counts.</p>
<p>What this means in reality is that the only thing you should consider when deciding if you&#8217;re going to continue using a particular martial arts advertisement is whether or not it&#8217;s allowing you to break-even (at a bare minimum) in the acquisition of new students.</p>
<p>Your opinion of what looks best, what gives you the warm and fuzzies, or what gets students and parents talking is, again, irrelevant.</p>
<p><span style="color: #ff0000;"><span style="font-size: medium;"><strong>Return on investment (ROI) should be the only deciding factor. </strong></span></span></p>
<p>Which brings us to the second lesson from the WSJ piece:</p>
<p>&#8220;There is much, at least anecdotal evidence, that creating an ad that viewers dislike may be more effective than one they like. Viewers hated the Anacin &#8220;headache&#8221; commercial many years ago, but it the sold the product. And consumers really hated the Wisk &#8220;ring around the collar&#8221; commercial, but the Wisk advertiser like it because it sold the product.&#8221;</p>
<p>Now, let me just say &#8211; this article is, obviously, referring to big brands using television commercials. And, of course, what applies to big company &#8220;brand building&#8221; doesn&#8217;t always apply to martial arts schools or small business operators. But, there&#8217;s a valuable point being made here. And here it is.</p>
<p>Often, a pure text, black and white advertisement that doesn&#8217;t look pretty, doesn&#8217;t have all of the typical &#8220;brand-building&#8221; bells and whistles, and won&#8217;t bring home any graphic artistry awards, will out-pull and outperform a pretty four-color, graphical ad.</p>
<p><span style="color: #ff0000;"><strong><span style="font-size: medium;">Remember, the purpose of all of your new-student-acquisition marketing is NOT to build a brand. It&#8217;s not to create an impression. And, it&#8217;s not to establish your professionalism. The purpose is to bring in new students at a reasonable cost. Period. </span></strong></span></p>
<p>And, therefore, whether a martial art advertisement looks nice or is &#8220;liked&#8221; by anyone should be inconsequential to you.</p>
<p>Again, in marketing, the only opinions that matter are the opinions being proved by people responding to your advertising and coming into your school for training.</p>

<p>And that’s why a quick discussion of exactly what creates true stability for your school is so important. Because creating stability in your business is what prevents your student-base, office cash flow, personal income, and lifestyle from deteriorating, disintegrating, wearing away, or becoming worse or inferior over time.</p>
<p><span style="font-size: medium;"><strong>So, what creates a stable school?</strong></span></p>
<p>It’s not the right location. Or your knowledge of anatomy and physiology. Or a whopping lifetime student value. Or a growing catalog of products and services. Or even quality of instruction, for that matter.</p>
<p>Stability in your martial art school comes solely from developing and maintaining an effective and affordable system for acquiring new martial art students. I call this your Optimal Student-Acquisition System (OSAS).</p>
<p>Even though the profits in a martial art school come from the backend (all of the revenue generated AFTER the student is acquired), stability and growth comes from the front-end (the acquisition of new students).</p>
<p>Introducing kickboxing, mma classes, self-defense courses, bully seminars, etc., are all great sources of backend revenue. And, I recommend them.</p>
<p>However, without a steady stream of new students coming into your school, your backend revenues from ancillary products and services are limited and will eventually dry up.</p>
<p>This is why the development of your Optimal Student-Acquisition System (OSAS) is the first and most important order of business for any school owner. Until you have the optimal student-acquisition system in place for your school, nothing else should take priority. Nothing.</p>
<p><span style="font-size: medium;"><strong>Think of it like this:</strong></span></p>
<p>Profits come from the backend of your business – all of the revenue generated after a student is acquired.</p>
<p>Stability and growth come from the front-end and your OSAS.</p>
<p>When building your school, first establish it on solid ground (stability). Then, and only then, build it higher and higher (profits).</p>

<p>It&#8217;s not enough, anymore, to simply put the name of your school and your current rank after your name. Every school owners does that.</p>
<p>Today, you need to communicate all of the various elements that establish and increase your credibility.</p>
<p><span style="font-size: medium;"><strong>For instance:</strong></span></p>
<p>* How long have you been in business?<br />
* How many students you have?<br />
* Do you have any &#8220;celebrity&#8221; students or parents known by your target market (i.e. local politician, police officer, teacher, business owner, etc.)?<br />
* Have you had anything published?<br />
* Have you had any media appearances?<br />
* Have you contributed to any local magazines?<br />
* Have you won any related awards?</p>
<p>All of these things help to communicate a greater level of credibility behind whatever it is you&#8217;re communicating to prospective students (and current students and parents).</p>
<p>But, credibility alone is NOT enough.</p>
<p><span style="font-size: medium;"><strong>You must also communicate your &#8220;martial arts track record&#8221;. </strong></span></p>
<p>And, in most cases, this has a greater impact on prospective students than the &#8220;credibility boosters&#8221; alone. Because track record communicates how martial arts lessons are with you, in your school, has actually delivered the sought-after benefits to clients.</p>
<p>In other words, what your track record shows prospective students and there parents is your history of helping people achieve positive outcomes, and lends proof to the claims of benefit you should be making in your martial arts advertisements.</p>
<p>For instance:</p>
<p>* How many parent and students rave about martial art training with you?<br />
